Laura A. Roy, DVM - Owner
Originally from Wethersfield, CT, Dr. Roy received an undergraduate degree in Pathobiology from the University of Connecticut. After graduation, she moved to Columbus, Ohio where she attended Ohio State University and completed a Master’s degree in Anatomic Pathology. Following graduation, Dr. Roy continued her studies at Ohio State where she received her DVM degree. Her interests include giant breed dogs, sporting dogs, and quilting.
Eran Shemer, DVM - Owner
Dr. Eran Shemer joined the practice as a partner in 2019. He graduated from St. George’s University after completing his medical training at Cornell University. Dr. Shemer is passionate about veterinary medicine and has a particular interest in ultrasound, surgery, and internal medicine. He has been living and raising a family in Mansfield for the last ten years, and he is committed to providing quality and compassionate veterinary care to the local community.
Shaleighne McKiernan, DVM
Dr. Shaleighne McKiernan joined as our newest doctor in November 2020. She graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and previously worked at North Windham Animal Hospital for three years before joining our team. Dr.McKiernan has a special interest in pathology and large dog breeds such as Great Danes. During her spare time, she enjoys baking and learning new languages!
Lizzy
Lizzy joined our team in 2020. She always had a passion for animals, and after high school became a certified veterinary assistant. She worked at a pet store and then for a few years and honed her skills as a veterinary technician while working in a local veterinary hospital. Lizzy has two dogs, two guinea pigs, and one cat. In her free time, she enjoys tending to her garden and house plants, making polymer clay figures, painting, drawing, birdwatching, and spending time outdoors with her partner, Scott.
Kristen
Kristen joined our staff in January 2021. Originally an RN, she has now been working as a vet tech for two and a half years. Her family consists of her husband, four grown children, three dogs, 12 cats, a rabbit, a turtle, and a tortoise! In her free time, she enjoys walking her dogs, spending time with her family, and gardening.
Alannah
Alannah joined our team in June of 2023. She is currently an undergraduate student at UConn pursuing a degree in Animal Science. Alannah hopes to attend veterinary school in the future. She started at TVH to further her education and gain valuable experience within the field of veterinary medicine. She loves spoiling her two dogs, Macklemore and Zoe, with many treats and toys. When Alannah is not working or studying, she loves drinking coffee and spending time with family and friends.
Olivia
Olivia joined our team in June 2024. She is currently a UConn student majoring in Animal Science on the Pre-Vet track, with aspirations to attend veterinary school and specialize in small animal medicine. In her free time, Olivia enjoys drawing, painting, sculpting, and spending time with her friends and family.
Rebecca
Rebecca has been at TVH since May of 2023. Starting as a hospital float in the evenings helping to clean, we quickly realized how great she would be as a technician. In addition to her great work ethic, she also has an animal science degree from UConn. When she’s not at work, she enjoys drawing, crocheting, and horseback riding, as well as spending time with her pup, Noelle.
